Situated on the bank of Swartvlei Lake in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route National Park, Bleshoener is a four bedroom private lakehouse enjoying panoramic views over the water and the Outeniqua mountains stretching beyond.
Swartvlei is just a 35 minute drive from George Airport and is centrally located to the many attractions of the Garden Route.
Set amidst a well established pine plantation, the house is surrounded by indigenous gardens and enjoys a wide lake frontage. The grounds are walled and guests can enjoy a feeling of security and privacy in an idyllic setting.
The house has a pool and access to the water via a private jetty. The lake offers wonderful opportunities for water sports including canoeing, fishing, wakeboarding, sailing and kite-surfing. The surrounding area has many beautiful hikes, mountain bike trails and beach walks as well as some of South Africa’s finest golf courses.
A haven for nature lovers as well as sports enthusiasts, the Garden Route owes its title to its great diversity of plant and animal species. Stretching from Mossel Bay to Storms River it is sandwiched between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. Swartvlei, literally 'Black Lake', is the largest of a series of lakes found between Wilderness and Knysna and is home to Bleshoener.
The house is surrounded by a beautiful walled garden with many of the regions indigenous flora on display.
A lake of many moods; Swartvlei offers something for everyone. Excellent fishing, a huge variety of watersports as well as bird watching and sunset cruises for those feeling a little less energetic!
A saltwater infinity pool that blends seamlessly with the lake, perfect for cooling off from the heat of the African sun.
Private and Secure
The property has a perimeter wall for your privacy and security. All bedrooms have individual safes and the house has an alarm system. Your hosts live separately on the property and are on hand for any requirements.
We have always taken great pride in our cuisine and the produce found in the area. We keep chickens, quails and have an organic vegetable garden that supplies our kitchen. We can accommodate your catering requirements on request.
Although we challenge you to escape the digital world we understand it is difficult to abstain completely! High speed internet connectivity throughout the house.
The Garden Route is home to some of South Africa’s most prestigious and beautiful golf courses. We are fortuitously situated central to all of them with Pinnacle Point, Oubaai, Fancourt, Pezula, Simola, Goose Valley and Kingswood all within an hour’s drive. Tours and bookings can be arranged on request.
The Garden Route is one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet. It’s different environments include mountain, lake, forest and fynbos. There are numerous parks, hiking trails and nature experiences to suit all tastes. There are over 300 different bird species to be found in the area, many of which can be seen in our own garden.
Although we tend to focus on the lake, the beach is only five minutes away! Our local beach, Swartvlei, offers long expanses of sand as well as beautiful rock pools and incredible marine life.
You can gather your own mussels and wild oysters with a permit. We also have excellent surf breaks nearby.
Sedgefield is home to Wild Oats Farmer’s Market, a thriving local market where some of the best regional produce can be found. There are also markets in nearby George, Wilderness and Knysna.
On and off the water there is no shortage of sporting activity to be found at Bleshoener. We offer fishing, wakeboarding/surfing, waterskiing and paddle-boarding on site. Local to us there are many mountain bike and horse riding trails as well as paragliding, surfing and kite-surfing to name but a few.
